I’ve never used a Recovery Drink before, but given the extreme nature of this race, and the amount of training I need to do before hand I think I will have to start. I have bought some SIS Rego powder in Chocolate flavour (it was that or banana), but have not had chance to use it yet. I am quite sceptical about its effects, but will have an open mind.
- Energy Sweets
I usually go for Jelly Babies, they are like little bundles of energy, but they don’t last long before they are just a sludgey mess in my pocket – and thats in this country! I think i’m going to have to do some very scientific, race specific sweet testing/tasting. I can see this being a very important time consuming aspect of my training! I think i’ll start with Mars Bars tonight and move on to Bounty’s tomorrow!

As I’m commenting everywhere else… I’m not convinced that the benefits (if any!) of recovery drinks are worth the weight penalty. In the desert I’d rather use my water to make up something like nuun, and get my hydration/electrolyte levels sorted, as I think that will have a far higher payback.
